What and Who we’re looking for
- We will be publishing 7 stories per issue.
- Weird tales and horror. We are amenable to genre hybrids, but unless the theme calls for it, it might be a hard sell. See The horrors we pursue for more details.
- Short fiction less than 2000 words. Formal experimentation is strongly encouraged.
- We’re not, nor will we ever be, a commercially motivated house. We want stuff that’s meaningful, impactful, playful, ugly, and/or just plain out there!
- Our preference is writers from the Ottawa area in central Ontario, Canada, but don’t hesitate to send us work if you’re abroad!
The horrors we pursue
We like most horror! Cosmic, occult, body, splatterpunk, literary, queer, folk, eco, techno, corporate, comedic, philosophical, conventional, existential, fringe, experimental…
Seriously…surprise us!
Caveat: Think very hard before you send us anything that could be considered transgressive. We will be more severe in our assessment of works that fall into this category.

NO AI. It’s frustrating that we even need this heading.
Response Time
All (yes all) submissions will be responded to by the end of the week following the submission deadline.
Feedback
We provide no feedback on rejected submissions—we simply don’t have the time.
All submissions are subject to basic copy editing. We may be more thorough if we like the piece enough to accept it but think it could use more cleaning up. The author has the right to veto any edits (within reason). All submissions will receive final approval of the author before printing (time permitting).

Pay Rate
We’re offering $20 CAD for each work on final approval for a print run of up to 40 numbered copies. Authors are paid cumulatively for successive editions if we decide to print them.
Authors are entitled to one complimentary copy of the zine and three additional copies at a discounted rate.
Author’s Rights
- Authors maintain all ownership rights to their submission.
- This includes digital rights! We will never digitally publish any submitted stories, because the internet is just a big theft machine now.
- Authors are free to submit their work anywhere else.
- If the work is accepted, we would appreciate if the author acknowledge that the work was printed with us first!
